Memories from Jason Raj

I met Talei in 2008, when she started an internship in the same company as me in London. It was only a three-month placement but I had fallen hopelessly in love with her by the end of the first week, if not earlier. Apart from being ridiculously beautiful, she always seemed so happy and infected everyone around her with her energy, positivity and upbeat attitude. The more I got to know her, the more impressed and in awe I was. She was intelligent, caring, always willing to help, and a great girl to hang out with. Some of the best nights out I've had were with Talei Jones, including one outrageous night of cocktails, comedy show, too much wine, a hotel bar in Paddington and not getting in until 4am. Shame about work the next day!

We saw each other a few times while she was still in the UK, and stayed in touch when she moved to China, Australia and lastly Central America. Even though she had loads of things to do and all sorts of exciting things to be doing, she still found time to reply to emails and spend time chatting on Facebook.

I'm so sad she's gone. My head can barely believe it and my heart refuses to accept it. I always thought I would see her again and the thought that I won't is too painful to contemplate.

I can't pick out other specific occasions from all the fun times we had, but my overriding feeling when I think of her is inspiration. She was always seeking out adventure, seeing new places, experiencing new things. But she remained wonderfully down-to-earth the whole time, taking everything in on her own terms. That's what I loved most of all about her I think. She was so strong, nothing could faze her.

No-one should have been taken so young less than Talei, but everyone she ever met will remember her with fondness and love. That is the mark of a truly special person, and I feel so proud to call you my friend, Talei.

The world is a poorer place without you, baby. Love you forever xxxxxx
